As the weather is slowly getting colder, there is nothing better than curling up on the sofa in front of the tv with a yummy hot drink. So I have tried and tested some different drinks for you and found a couple of these delicious, warming winter drinks to try out!
Peppermint Candy Cane Hot Chocolate - Serves 2
What you'll need:50g white chocolate (chopped up)
4 Candy canes
100g chocolate coated mint fondants (like After Eights)
250ml Milk
450ml Double Cream
Lets start off with the glasses! Place the white chocolate into a heatproof bowl and melt over a saucepan of boiling water. Crush up two candy canes into really really tiny pieces in a small bag, using a roller.
Using the melted chocolate dip the rim of 2 heatproof glasses into the chocolate, then roll in the crushed up candy canes, so that they cover each of the rims. (This isn't as easy as it sounds!).
Place the chocolate-coated mint fondants in a saucepan along with the milk and 250ml of the double cream and bring to the boil over a low heat, (make sure you whisk it the whole time!).
Pour the hot chocolate into the glasses, but be careful not to get any on the rims as it will just melt away, all the prettiness that you added earlier.
You can whip up the remaining cream until to makes stiff peaks or cheat like I did and use squirty cream. Place a big dollop on top of the drinks and decorate with the remaining broken candy cane pieces and a whole candy cane hanging on the side!
White Chocolate, Pumpkin Hot Chocolate - Serves 2.
What you'll need:
2 tbsp Pumpkin Puree
100g White Chocolate - Chopped
500ml Milk
Pinch of Nutmeg
1 tsp of Ground Cinnamon
1/2 tsp of Ground Ginger
1 tsp Pure Vanilla Extract
Squirty Cream!
Put the pumpkin puree, white chocolate, milk, nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger and vanilla all into a saucepan. Whisking all of the time, simmer on a low heat until all of the chocolate has melted, if you want a super smooth hot chocolate pop the mixture into a blender for a few moments now.
Pour into two cups or glasses and top with cream and a pinch of nutmeg or I used a little grated white chocolate and some chocolate covered popping candy. Yummy! I wasn't too sure about this one until I tried it and now it will definitely be a regular one for me!
I'd love to know if you try any of these out and what you think of them!
Thank you for reading!
